Tasmania was named for the Tasmanian wolf which has the same
faint silver markings on dark fur. Taz was adopted as a companion cat for Sherman,
and the two of them got along quite well - my downstairs neighbor
Emil used to call them "Thunderpaws" because they would gleefully chase each other
back and forth from one end of the apartment to the other. Taz was a talker,
and had a surprisingly high miaow for such a big burly boy.
When he fixed those laser-beam eyes on me at the shelter, I KNEW he knew
he was coming home with me. I miss him greatly; he was such a loveable lug.
