Franz Marc was the second son of his father, who was a professor
in painting at Munich Art Academy. Marc studied at the
Munich Art Academy, but had originally studied Philosophy & Theology
at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich in 1899.
Prior to his studies he served a year in the military.
